Tiger Splash Families-

First, I want to welcome you to the 2018 Tiger Splash Season!  

Here are a few updates for you as we get ready for the season.  We are thrilled to announce that two of our coaches are returning this year, James Akers as Head Coach, and Ashley Bruno will be starting Mid-May as an Assistant Coach.  We also welcome one of our own swimmers and former JAV as a coach, Emily Warkentin, will be joining us as an Assistant Coach this year.  We look forward to a great season with this group and all our JAVs on deck. We are hoping to have some guest coaches this season, and we know some of our families have strong swimming backgrounds with experience as USAA swimmer, collegiate swimmers, and beyond.  If you would like to help with a clinic, a practice, work with a targeted group, or other ideas talk to either a board member or a coach and we can explore possibilities. 

Founder's Day Parade 

If you would like to join us for the float on Friday, April 27th at the parade, we would love to have you.  Attached you will find a permission slip for your child to participate on the float. Please print and sign this and be sure to have this in your child's hand as they arrive to board the float. We will be in the Staging Group B area -B18 is our spot. We plan to arrive by 4:30 to set up and do last minute balloons. Feel free to come anytime after that. You must be on the float by 6:00 pm and parade starts at 6:30pm.   Please plan to pick your child up at the float at the same spot at the conclusion of the parade.  We will not allow children to leave the area to meet parents somewhere else.

Also attached is a picture of the staging area map so you can get an idea of where B is. Please remember you can't park anywhere close by, so either drop your child close by or park and walk up with them if need be.

We will have water squirters and water on the float for your kids to use during the parade. Have your swimmer wear any tiger splash t-shirt to ride in the parade and if possible, please bring candy to be thrown from the float to parade watchers. Review with your child the rules of water squirting and riding in a parade before they come that evening.

Anyone interested in being a responsible and assertive spotter around our float for the parade? We need 4 volunteers to walk alongside the float to make sure our kids are safe and things run smoothly. Evaluations

All new swimmers need to attend an evaluation at Founder's Pool on Monday, April 30th or Tuesday, May 1st. This is an evaluation to determine that the swimmer is capable of swimming the length of the pool without assistance; as well as determining skill level. This is not a practice.

Please register each swimmer for one 15 minute time block between 5-7pm.

Practices

Practices begin on Wednesday, May 2nd.  We practice Monday- Thursday at Founder's Park

May 2nd-June 7th

June 11th-July 12th

A swimmer's session time is based on the session for which they registered. Swimmers are expected to arrive before their scheduled practice time in order to be on deck and ready to stretch.

July 16th-July 25th

Times are adjusted for the practices leading up to state.

Paperwork

If we do not already have a copy of your child's birth certificate we will need one on file for TAAF purposes.  Please bring one to evaluations.  You will also need to sign a TAAF waiver form before your swimmer can be on deck, a photo release form.

We are working out the details about a service based JAV scholarship.  Information will be coming out soon.
