TAAF Eligibility
Tiger Splash Swim Team is a recreational swimming team which accepts swimmers from the greater Dripping Springs area from 4 to 17 years of age as of June 1st of the current year. Tiger Splash participates as a member of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. Swimmers wishing to participate in the Regional and State Summer swim meets must follow the rules set by TAAF, which can be found here.
TAAF determines a swimmer's age based on their age on June 1st of the current year. From January 1st to April 30th of the current year, TAAF swimmers ages 12 and under are limited to swimming 90 minutes per week. In addition, swimmers ages 12 and under, may NOT compete in any swim meets (other than the Winter Games of Texas) or participate on a year-round team during this period. Swim programs or clinics that are open to the public (see below) are excellent options for 12 and under swimmers who wish to swim now. All swimmers ages 13 & over are TAAF eligible.
TIGER SPLASH will audit all swimmers wishing to compete at the regional or summer state meet to confirm eligibility (swimmer has not competed in a swim meet between Jan 1 and April 30, exception Winter Games of Texas).

Is My Child Ready for Swim Team?
Swimmers interested in swim team do NOT need to be fast swimmers or know all four strokes; however, all swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool completely unaided, as determined by the coaching staff.
Here are some tentative guidelines that can help you know if your child is ready for swim team.
- Your child is probably READY for this swim team if he/she can do ALL of the following: He/she can swim under water (i.e. grab a toy from the bottom of the pool) easily and without discomfort; He/she can jump off the edge of the pool and into the water without assistance; He/she is comfortable on their back in the water; He/she can make forward progress at least 10 yards under the water in some way; He/she can follow directions in a large group of kids and can wait for his/her turn in a line; He/she can swim the length of the pool independently.
- Your child is probably NOT READY for swim team if: He/she needs help jumping into the pool, or needs an adult to "catch" him/her jumping in; He/she is uncomfortable going under water or putting his/her face in the pool; He/she does not enjoy swimming under water; He/she does not work well in a large group of children.
